Actualmente, el J24 es el velero más usado en
el mundo después del Laser.
Tanta popularidad se debe, sin duda, a su exi-
toso diseño, a la solidez y seriedad de las normas
para navegarlo y competir, y a la fuerza que ha
conseguido la Asociación Internacional de la
Clase J24 con sus 2,728 miembros activos en 27
países.
La Clase J24 se estableció en México en 1979,
cuenta con más de 250 afiliados y 70 barcos acti-
vos entre Valle de Bravo, Cancún, Acapulco, Los
Cabos y Puerto Vallarta. La Selección Mexicana
esta conformada por 20 embarcaciones, entre las
cuales se encuentra la del Equipo AMURA, el cual
ha obtenido muy buenos resultados. La embarca-
ción del equipo está considerada como una de las
más sólidas y competitivas para representar a
nuestro país frente al resto del mundo.
