exico will be the host of the World J24
Class Championship from March 1
through 10, 2007. The Nuevo Vallarta
Yacht Club will receive 400 yachtsmen from all
over the world. Twenty Mexican yachts will
compete for the championship with Germany,
Japan, Sweden, Great Britain, Australia, Canada,
Chile, Puerto Rico, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Italy,
Venezuela, Uruguay, Holland and the USA.
Staging an event of this size takes years of
preparation and media presence, all require-
ments which Mexico has completely fulfilled.
México was the successful host of the 2002
Central American Games and the 2003 North
American Championship.
Although the figures are well known among
the hosts, it is worth mentioning some facts to
celebrate and enjoy this event. The last world

Mundial de J24. Del 1 al 10 de marzo del
2007 la marina del Club de Yates de Nuevo
Vallarta recibirá a 400 veleristas de diversos lugares
del mundo. Veinte embarcaciones mexicanas dispu-
tarán el campeonato junto con Alemania, Japón,
Suecia, Gran Bretaña, Australia, Canadá, Chile, Puerto
Rico, Perú, Argentina, Brasil, Italia, Venezuela,
Uruguay, Holanda y Estados Unidos.
La realización de un evento de esta magnitud
implica años de preparación y de presencia en el
medio, requisitos con los que nuestro país ha cum-
plido cabalmente. México fue exitoso anfitrión de los
Juegos Centroamericanos en el 2002 y del
Campeonato Norteamericano en el 2003.
Si bien entre los aficionados los datos son muy
conocidos, conviene mencionar algunos detalles para
celebrar y disfrutar de este evento. Los últimos cam-
