his vehicle is an example of how a concept car
can finally see the light on the assembly line.
The Jaguar XK is nothing less than the market
version of a concept car that, two years ago, was called
Jaguar Lightweight Coupe.
As in the days when Jaguar dominated the tracks,
the objective of the XK is to stand firmly and look
straight to the future. While the car evokes a few traits
of those Jaguar legends, it is also the standard-bearer
of the brand’s new era, both in design and engineer-
ing, as it is the most technologically advanced car the
English firm has ever marketed.
It has a radical look and some might say it does
not even look like a Jaguar. However, if we look back at
the 60’s, we see that the essence is there, with many
features inspired in the shapes of the Jaguar Type E.
Starting with a blank canvas, Jaguar was able to
use state-of-the-art technology in conjunction with
its traditional qualities to create a luxurious, power-
ful ensemble that will, most surely, become the hall-
mark of the brand’s sporty temperament.

cepto puede finalmente ver la luz sobre la línea de en-
samble. El Jaguar XK es ni más ni menos que la versión
comercial de un auto concepto que hasta hace un par de años
se llamó Jaguar Lightweight Coupe.
Como en aquellos tiempos, cuando Jaguar dominaba so-
bre las pistas, el objetivo del XK no es otro sino plantarse con
firmeza mirando hacia el futuro. Si bien evoca algunos rasgos
de aquellos Jaguar de leyenda, también es el emisario de una
nueva era de la firma, tanto en términos de diseño como en
ingeniería, ya que se trata del auto más avanzado tecnológi-
camente que haya comercializado la casa inglesa.
Es radical en su apariencia, quizá muchos digan que ni si-
quiera parece un Jaguar, pero si miramos hacia la década de
los sesenta podremos notar que la esencia está ahí, con mu-
chos rasgos inspirados en las formas del Jaguar E Type.
Al comenzar con un lienzo en blanco Jaguar fue capaz de
utilizar su tecnología de vanguardia en combinación con sus
habilidades tradicionales para crear un conjunto de lujo y po-
tencia que seguramente se convertirá en la representación
del temperamento deportivo de la marca.
