A lthough several written registers
show that golf was played in Dor-
noch during the year of 1616, this
course was founded in 1877. In
1886, Old Tom Morris made a modi-
fication to the nine original holes and three years
later it extended into 18 holes. During the decade
of the 1940’s, after the Second World War, George
Duncan made other alterations to six holes (from
6 to 11), which still remain. We are talking about a
golf course that is truly fascinating, it captivates
amateur and professional golfers alike and it has
been a Royal Club for over 100 years, which at-
tracts players from all over the world.
