In 2025, Aston Martin is taking on the challenge of winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Aiming to conquer Le Mans as well as other endurance races around the world, Aston Martin and The Heart of Racing have unveiled the Valkyrie WEC model to be launched on the track.
While the company has successfully competed in the legendary French endurance race over the past few decades with its Vantage-derived World Endurance Racing cars, the 2025 campaign hopes to evoke the feat of 1959, when Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori took outright victory in the Aston Martin DBR1.
While there have been special track-exclusive models of the Valkyrie, aimed at customers who want the full two-seat V12 experience with maximum aerodynamics and minimal luxury, this is the first time the car has been taken to the track.
Other changes are evident, most notably in the aerodynamic packages that transform the Valkyrie's bodywork, increasing downforce while improving component accessibility and overall safety. A quick refueling system has also been added.
The only competitor in its class derived from a road-legal hypercar, the Valkyrie will be raced by the Aston Martin THOR team at Le Mans on June 14-15, 2025.
In addition to a car developed for the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) rules that govern Le Mans, the Heart of Racing factory team will also compete in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. THOR will run dual programs, partnering with Aston Martin Performance Technologies for the eight-race WEC series and the 11-race IMSA season.
Prior to Le Mans, THOR's two cars will make their debut at the first round of the 2025 WEC, the 1,812-kilometer race in Qatar on February 28.
