Masters Of The Avant-Garde:
Miró, Mondrian, Calder and theGuggenheimCollection
ARCA, Chiesa San Marco, abierta en 2007 es un espa-
cio de exposición de vidrio y metal que se localiza en
la antigua iglesia de San Marcos, Vercelli. Además de
los frescos restaurados, el espacio ha mostrado obras
maestras de alto perfil, entre ellas la exposición
Mas-
ters Of The Avant-Garde: Miró, Mondrian, Calder and
the Guggenheim Collection
(3 de marzo – 10 de junio
de 2012), y curada por Luca Massimo Barbero. Ésta es
la quinta muestra planificada para este espacio, por
parte de la Peggy Guggenheim Collection, contiene
30 obras de arte que analizan la carrera de Joan Miró,
Piet Mondrian y Alexander Calder. La exposición es un
verdadero festejo para los conocedores y neófitos.
Joan Miró (España 1893-1983) ha sido una de las
figuras más importantes del Surrealismo, y es consi-
derado uno de los pintores más impecables de aque-
lla vanguardia. Se movió en la tendencia simbólica del
Surrealismo. En 1942 tuvo su primer contacto con la
Peggy Guggenheim Collection, resultando una relación
fructífera que ha llegado a nuestros días con piezas
como las que se exponen en esta oportunidad
.
Sin Piet Mondrian (Países Bajos 1872-1994) el arte
abstracto hubiera sido otro. Su trazo, los colores, y la
calidad artística de su obra lo colocan como figura lí-
der de ese movimiento, al igual que miembro fundador
del grupo De Stijl (1917). Compartió con Kandinsky
la idea de las bases espirituales y metafísicas en el
arte. Sus piezas geométricas con el uso de colores
primarios son inconfundibles, las cuales han servido
como inspiración a muchas áreas de la cultura visual
contemporánea.

glass and steel exhibition space located in the
old churc of San Marcos, Vercelli. Besides of the
restored frescoes, the space has shown high pro-
file master works, among them the show
Masters
Of The Avant-Garde: Miró, Mondrian, Calder and the
Guggenheim Collection
(March 3 – June 10, 2012)
and curated by Luca Massimo Barber. This is the
fifth exhibition planned for this space by the
Peggy Guggenheim Collection, it has 30 works
of art that analyze the career of Joan Miró, Piet
Mondrian and Alexander Calder. The show is a
real feast for erudite and amateurs.
Joan Miró (Spain 1893-1983) has been one of the
key figures of Surrealism, and is considered as one
of themost impeccable painters of that avant-garde.
He moved in the symbolic trend of Surrealism. In
1942 had his first contact with the Peggy Guggen-
heim Collection, resulting in a fertile relation
that has arrived to our days with pieces as the
ones exhibited in this occasion.
Without Piet Mondrian (Netherlands 1872-
1994) Abstract art would had been other. His line,
the colors and the artistic quality of his work
place him as leader figure of that movement, as
well as founder member of De Stijl group (1917).
He shared with Kandinsky the idea of spiritual and
metaphysic basis in art. His geometric paintings
with the use of primary colors are distinctively,
which have served as inspiration to many areas of
contemporary visual culture.
