orstorphine House fue construida en 1863 por
John Sidec y perteneció a la familia hasta cuan-
do la compró la iglesia presbiteriana en 1997.
Finalmente su nuevo dueño la convirtió en lujoso ho-
tel con ocho exclusivas habitaciones.
Situado sobre las colinas de Dunedin, el hotel
ofrece una vista excepcional a la bahía y la ciudad y se
encuentra muy cercano a la ecológica península Ota-
go, donde se pueden admirar pingüinos y albatros, y
de los 12 campos de golf de la región.
Su restaurante, The Conservatory, se aloja en el
invernadero de la casa, con sus muros y techo de vi-
drio, considerado uno de los mejores de la isla del sur
de Nueva Zelanda, en el mismo rango que Grasmere,
Matakauri Lodge y Takaro Lodge.
Propone un menú que conserva el refinamiento,
la elegancia y un saludable equilibrio: salmón marina-
do con ensalada baby rocket, papas tibias, camarones
black tigre y huevos de codorniz, venado asado con
mousse de papas, echalotes y salsa de casis, tarta de
manzana y ciruelas con glaseado de arándano.
Conservatory Restaurant es el mejor complemen-
to para cenar con elegancia, disfrutando de los sabo-

Sidec, It remained in the hands of the Sidec fami-
ly until it and was purchased by the Presbyterian
Church in 1997. After a while, the new owner converted
it into an exclusive hotel with eight luxurious rooms.
Situated in the hills of Dunedin, the hotel fea-
tures an outstanding view of the bay and the city. It is
also very close to the Otago ecological peninsula,
which is inhabited by penguins and albatross, and
where the region’s 12 golf courses are located.
Its restaurant, The Conservatory, is set in a green-
house, with glass walls and roof. It is ranked as one of
the best on this island in southern New Zealand, along
with Grasmere, Matakauri Lodge and Takaro Lodge.
The menu, which embodies the hotel’s refine-
ment and elegance, features a well-balanced, healthy
selection that includes marinated salmon with baby
rocket salad, warm potatoes, black tiger shrimp and
quail eggs, grilled deer with potato mousse, shallots
and cassis sauce, apple tart and plums with a cranber-
ry glaze.
Conservatory Restaurant is the best option for
dining in an elegant setting while enjoying the fla-
vors of New Zealand.
