he D-Jet, a personal plane, is a new jewel which
will soar through the sky. It was created by
Diamond Aircraft Industries Inc., a company
specializing in turboprop planes that decided to step
forward and enter the world of turbine jets. The
Diamond D-Jet has one engine (Williams FJ33-4),
space for five passengers, a cruising speed of 315
knots and operating altitude of 25,000 feet.
Even before its launching, and due to the boom-
ing demand, the owners of the company gave instruc-
tions that previous Diamond owners take precedence
so that they can change their jets for one with the lat-
est technology. After launching the project two years
ago, the new model was built in 2004 and it is expect-
ed that, by 2008, it will begin to fly in order to receive
the anxiously expected certification needed before it
can be offered to clients.
The D-Jet will cost less than a million dollars, a
very attractive price when considering its features
and advanced technology. This price can increase,
depending on configurations, specifications and
details that the new owner might decide to include.
Diamond Aircraft Industries Inc. has selected the
Garmin G1000 integrated avionics system for its new
D-Jet personal aircraft. The G1000 flight deck for the
D-Jet will be available as a three-panel system with
two 10" primary flight displays (PFDs), a centrally
located 15" multi-function display (MFD), FMS con-
troller, glareshield mounted Autopilot Controller, and
dual AHRS / GPS / Magnetometer sensor system.
The Garmin G1000 is already being delivered on
Diamond’s DA40-180 Diamond Star and the DA42
Twin Star. The system integrates all primary flight,
navigation, communication, terrain, traffic, weather,
engine instrumentation and crew-alerting system
data on brilliant high definition displays.

the avionics supplier for the innovative D-Jet”, said
Gary Kelley, Garmin’s director of marketing. “As an
owner-flown aircraft, the D-Jet is an ideal platform for
the G1000 system by offering ease of use, superior
reliability and enhanced flight safety as well as low
cost of ownership”.
Christian Dries, CEO of Diamond Aircraft, said

Development of Technology
The Ontario, Canada factory produces the other
Diamond models, the DA20-C1, Katana 100 y DA40; and
theWiener Neustadt plant inAustria, is thehome of the
Diamond Center of Investigation and Development,
the DA40 and the HKmotor glider.
With a reputation for being one of the best in the
business, Diamond’s Customer Support center deliv-
ers parts the day after they are ordered, year ‘round,
seven days a week, an added value for the client.
With the new D-Jet, lovers of flying will have the

na nueva joya empezará a surcar los aires: D-Jet,
un avión personal. Es una creación de Diamond
Aircraft Industries Inc., compañía especializada
en la construcción de aviones de turbohélice, pero que
decidió dar un paso hacia delante al ingresar en el mun-
do de los aviones de turbina. El Diamond D-Jet es un jet
de un motor, Williams FJ33-4, de cinco plazas, que ten-
drá una velocidad crucero de 315 nudos y una altitud de
operación de 25 mil pies.
Aun antes de su lanzamiento, y ante la exitosa de-
manda, los dueños de la compañía les han dado prioridad
a sus clientes de los modelos Diamond anteriores, para
que realicen el cambio a lo último en tecnología. Luego
de haber lanzado el proyecto hace dos años, el nuevo
modelo empezó a construirse en 2004 y se espera que
para 2008 empiece a volar en busca de la tan ansiada
certificación para empezar a ofrecerse a sus clientes.
El costo del D-Jet será menor a 1 millón de dólares,
precio muy atractivo considerando sus prestaciones y
avanzada tecnología, aunque puede aumentar, depen-
diendo de las configuraciones, especificaciones y de-
talles que desee incluir el dueño.
Diamond seleccionó el sistema de aviónica Garmin
G1000 para integrarla al D-Jet. El panel G1000 estará dis-
ponible con tres sistemas, los cuales se apreciarán en dos
pantallas de 10 pulgadas cada una (primary flight display,
PFD), un display central multifuncional de 15 pulgadas
(multi-function display, MDF), controlador FMS, cubierta
reflejante instalada en el piloto automático y un sistema
de sensor dual AHRS/GPS/magnetómetro.
El Garmin G1000 ya está disponible en el Diamond
DA40-180 Diamond Star y el DA42 Twin Star. El sistema
integra toda la instrumentación y alerta primaria a la tri-
pulación con información de navegación, comunicación,
terrena, tráfico, clima y motor, todo en brillantes colores
y alta definición. “Estamos ansiosos por tomar otro emo-
cionante paso de la relación con Diamond Aircraft como
proveedores de aviónica para el innovador D-Jet. Como
dueño de la aeronave, el D-Jet es la plataforma ideal pa-
ra el sistema G1000, el cual ofrece facilidad de uso, con-
fiabilidad superior y máxima seguridad de vuelo, así
como bajo costo de mantenimiento”, comentó Gary Ke-
lley, director de mercadotecnia de Garmin.
Y Christian Dries, CEO de Diamond Aircraft, expre-
só que “además de que el sistema G1000 es de calidad
superior, en características, desempeño y superiori-
dad, nos gusta la simplicidad de la cabina con nuestra
nave de pistón, la fortaleza con Garmin en el sistema
de aviónica GA, la facilidad de ofrecer un sistema com-
pleto e integrado, y su excelente respaldo, al integrar
el sistema al airframe”.
Desarrollo de Tecnología
En la fábrica en Ontario (Canadá), se producen los demás
modelos de Diamond, DA20-C1, Katana 100 y DA40, y en
Wiener Neustadt (Austria), hogar del Centro de Investi-
gación y Desarrollo de Diamond, los modelos DA40 y el
planeador motorizado HK.
