Bubi, como se le conoce a Javier Sansó, es un re-
gatista español de Mallorca que se ha ganado un
lugar en la historia de la navegación debido a que
ha revolucionado el concepto de “barco verde”, con
una embarcación 100% ecológica, además de ha-
ber cruzado el Atlántico tantas veces que las mi-
llas de navegación pierden sentido.
A bordo de un Imoca 60 -cero emisiones-, ha
participado en la Vendée Globe, la regata que da
la vuelta al mundo en solitario, sin asistencia ni
escalas. Este barco es 100% autosustentable a
través de energía renovable proveniente del mar,
el sol y el viento, “un mito que va a ser un refe-
rente en toda navegación a vela”, en palabras del
mallorquín. “No estamos solo ante un barco, sino
ante un verdadero laboratorio en el mar”, ha de-
clarado Sansó.
La embarcación, denominada “Acciona 100%
Ecopowered”, diseñada por el estudio Owen Clarke
Design y fabricada en Nueva Zelanda por el astille-
ro Southern Ocean Marine, repara las 115 tonela-
das de CO2 emitidas durante su fabricación con re-
ducciones certificadas de emisiones procedentes
de los parques eólicos de Anabaru y Arasinagundi,
en Karnataka, La India.
Javier Sanso cuenta con un palmarés que suma
más de 30 veces el logro de cruzar el Atlántico,
además de ser el primer español que llegó en vele-
ro a la Península Antártica.
Ha dado la vuelta al mundo en solitario varias
veces; en 1994 cruzó por primeva vez el Atlántico
a bordo del Patagonia.

2016, esperando colocarse entre los grandes y con
muchas posibilidades de hacer historia.
