El 850 debuta con los motores PW810 de Pratt &
Whitney de nueva generación, con 8,830 libras de
empuje, un motor amigable con el medio ambiente
que reduce el consumo de combustible, las emisio-
nes contaminantes y el ruido.
El motor PW810 cuenta con los últimos avances
probados en materiales, aerodinámica y tecnologías
de diseño.
La cabina de piloto contará con la aviónica Pro
Line Fusion de Rockwell Collins, que combina las
capacidades probadas de Pro Line 21 con significati-
vos avances tecnológicos.
La cabina de vuelo, totalmente integrada, contará
con cuatro displays panorámicos de 15 pulgadas tra-
bajando armónicamente con planeación gráfica del
vuelo, visibilidad sintetizada aumentada, el multipre-
miado MultiScan Hazard Detection System de
Rockwell Collins, y un display opcional sobre la cabeza.
En cuanto al diseño exterior, realizado utilizando
el proceso de CFD, los ingenieros del Columbus logra-
ron aislar cada punto relevante para que el flujo de
aire sobre la aeronave detecte hasta el menor punto
relevante para calcular los efectos en los cambios del
contorno. El resultado es una aeroestructura confor-
mada para lograr lo mejor de todas las posibles com-
binaciones –las más altas velocidades con la menor
resistencia y la mayor eficiencia.
Por si fuera poco, será capaz de despegar utili-
zando pistas cortas de 5,400 pies (1,646 metros) con
carga máxima.
Cessna planea obtener la certificación de la
Federal Aviation Administration, FAA, a fines de

of thrust, which are environmentally friendly, while
reducing fuel consumption, pollution and noise.
The PW810 engine boasts the latest advances
in terms of materials, aerodynamics and design
technologies.
The pilot’s console will be equipped with the
Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics console,
which combines the proven capabilities of the Pro
Line 21 console with significant technological
advances.
The totally integrated flight deck will feature
four 15” panoramic displays working in harmony
with the graphic flight plan, increased synthesizer
visibility, the multi-award winning Rockwell
Collins MultiScan Hazard Detection System and an
optional overhead display.
In terms of the exterior design, achieved using
the CFD process, the Columbus engineers managed
to isolate each relevant point so that the airflowover
the aircraft’s surface can detect even the smallest
relevant point to calculate the effects of changes to
the outline. The result is an airframe designed to
achieve the best of all possible combinations - the
highest speeds with the lowest wind resistance and
the greatest efficiency.
And if that weren’t enough, the jet can take off
fully laden on runways as short as 5,400 feet (1,646
meters).
Cessna plans to obtain the Federal Aviation
Administration certification by the end of 2013 in
order to begin deliveries in 2014.
The initial estimated price of the Citation
Columbus is US$27 million in 2008.
