frica Austral es un mundo de sorpresas donde
cada Lodge u hotel brinda una nueva experiencia;
cada reserva regala muchas sorpresas y cada
gente ofrece un encuentro maravilloso. Sudáfrica es
un país moderno y rico; es una aventura que disfruté
con elegancia y refinamiento a pesar de unos impo-
nentes contrastes raciales y sociales.
Visité Johannesburgo, o Jo’burg como la llaman
sus habitantes, una ciudad que palpita con sus
rascacielos, su centro abandonado por razones de
inseguridad, donde las torres vacías se reflejan sobre
su glorioso pasado, y sus bellas casas en zonas verdes
generalmente con máxima protección.
Visité la mina de oro, los bellos campos de golf,
los grandes
malls
con sus elegantes tiendas y sus
mejores restaurantes, al igual que cualquier ciudad
del mundo, disfrutando con placer de Jo’burg.
Un avión me llevó a Hoedspruit, a la orilla del
Kruger National Park. Mi personal ranger me estaba
esperando para llevarme a la reserva de Kapama, y me
instalé en el fabuloso Camp Jabulani, en mi suite con
alberca privada antes de disfrutar de un excelente
“lunch the afrikáner way”, es decir con alguna
carne de cacería.
Unos hermosos recorridos me acercaron a los
animales salvajes que habitan la Reserva Kapama,
observando leones, rinocerontes, cebras, gacelas,

makes for wonderful companionship. Lavish
and modern, South Africa is an adventure in
itself, one which I greatly enjoyed in spite of
the marked racial and social contrasts.
Johannesburg, or Jo’burg, as the locals call it,
proved to bemyfirst destination. The city palpitates
under the shadows of its skyscrapers, which are
situated near the suburbs. The city center is largely
abandoned for security reasons. One canalso admire
the designated green zones, where beautiful homes
have been erected and which are heavily guarded.
I visited a goldmine, some beautiful golf courses,
the huge, sprawling malls and the chic and elegant
boutiques inside. It was an immense pleasure to
visit Jo’burg.
A flight took me to Hoedspruit, at the border of
the Kruger National Park. My personal ranger was
waiting for me upon my arrival to take me to
Kapama Reserve, where I had the privilege of setting
camp in the majestic Camp Jabulani, where a suite
and a private pool was waiting for me, before I have
“lunch the Afrikaner way”, it means with some big
game meat.
