• Una de las principales atracciones de ésta ciudad
son sus legendarios mushing o Sled Dog Racing. Es-
tas carreras con trineos tirados por perros, se con-
virtieron en deporte desde principios de siglo; sin
embargo, es una actividad ancestral, ya que se trata
de uno de los medios de transporte más antiguos
utilizados por el hombre en sus trabajos o para faci-
litar la búsqueda y transporte de la caza. La compe-
tición más conocida y atractiva es la Annual Iditarod
Trail Sled Dog Race, la cual, coincide con otros gran-
des eventos de la región que se realizan en el centro
de la ciudad, de donde, además, parte este espectá-
culo de perros y hombres corriendo por un objetivo:
Ganar; para darle término cerca de Campbell Creek.
• Las vistas que ofrece Anchorage son incompa-
rables; no sólo por la impactante belleza de sus
montañas y largos ríos sino por ser la región que
mayor concentración de glaciales presenta den-
tro de los Estados Unidos, siendo los de la región
surcentral los más accesibles para las visitas de
los turistas.
• La convivencia con la vida salvaje que tienen los
pobladores de Anchorage es innegable. Desde su
llegada, el visitante constata que en esta ciudad
de contrastes, se puede encontrar tanto el sentido
rústico que da la naturaleza, como la modernidad
que ofrecen las principales localidades, mismas que
brindan todos los servicios. Entre los atractivos de
esta región están el sentido étnico de sus pobladores
originales y su naturaleza; presentes en el Chugach
State Park y el Alaska Native Heritage Center.

races of sleds pulled by dogs became a sport
at the beginning of the century. It is, howev-
er, an ancestral activity, for this is one of the
oldest transportation means used by man in
his tasks or to facilitate the search and car-
riage of the game. The best known and most
attractive competition is the Iditarod Trail
Sled Dog Race, coinciding with other great re-
gional events celebrated at the city center; the
place where this show of men and dogs starts,
racing for an objective: to win; finishing near
Campbell Creek.
• The views offered by Anchorage are incompa-
rable. Not just for the stunning beauty of its
mountains and long rivers, but for its being
the region with the greatest concentration of
glaciers inside the US, being the ones located
in the south central region the most acces-
sible for tourists to visit.
• The living relationship of the Anchorage inhab-
itants with the wildlife is undeniable. Since
their arrival, the visitors witness that in this
contrasting city, they may find both the rustic
sense given by nature and the modernity of-
fered by the main towns delivering all of the
services. Among the attractions of this region
is the ethnic sense of their aboriginal people
and its nature, present in the Chugach State
Park and the Alaska Native Heritage Center.
