Los golfistas empezaron a arribar en sus embarcacio-
nes a Los Cabos, y el millonario estadounidense Don Koll
adquirió el hotel Palmilla (actualmente One&Only Palmilla).
Éste contrató a Jack Nicklaus para el diseño de un escenario
golfístico de 27 hoyos –mar, arroyo y montaña–, que le dan
al juego otra dimensión, por lo cual ha sido clasificado como
uno de los 100 mejores del mundo por una conocida revis-
ta de golf.
Nicklaus quedó fascinado con la belleza del lugar y creó
el Ocean Course de Cabo del Sol, llamado el “Pebble Beach de
Baja”, por estar esculpido entre las escarpadas laderas, y es-
to incluye los “Tres mejores últimos”, por razones obvias.
En el desierto
Pero Cabo del Sol no quedó ahí. Se contrató a Tom Weiskopf
para crear otro campo: el Desert Course, en medio de caño-
nes y arroyos, con amplios fairways que van serpenteando el
desierto. Experto en la topografía cabense culminó su expe-
riencia con El Dorado Golf Club, completando su presencia en
la Península. Seis hoyos tienen vista hacia el mar y recorrer-
lo es toda una experiencia.
Nicklaus to design a 27-hole golf setting—sea, stream
and mountain— that gives the game another dimen-
tion, which is why it has been ranked as one of the 100
best in the world by a renowned golf magazine.
Nicklaus was fascinated by the beauty of Los Cabos,
and created Cabo del Sol’s Ocean Course, known as the
“Pebble Beach” of Baja, because it is sculpted between
the craggy cliffs, and this includes the “three last best,”
for obvious reasons.
In the desert
But that was not the end for Cabo del Sol. TomWeiskopf
was hired to create another course, the Desert Course,
in the middle of canyons and streams, with wide fair-
ways that wind throught the desert.
Expert in Los Cabos topography, he culminated all
his experience in El Dorado Golf Club, rounding off his
presence on the peninsula. With six holes with sea
views, a round becomes a truly unique experience.

Jones II was hired to create Cabo Real Golf Club, a sett-
