n ancient gem has been polished.

The Zoo Hotel, crown jewel of Ber-

lin’s Kurfürstendamm - from the

decade of the 20’s until the 50’s-,

shines brightly once more. Interior

designer,Dayna Lee, has reinvented Zoo without

losing its historic character. With a special atten-

tion to detail and the preservation of the building’s

original elements, Lee infusions this space with

New Yorker and Londoner accents. Built in the year

of 1891, this private residence was created for an af-

fluent family; to later be converted into a hotel in

the year of 1911. By the decade of 1950, it was the

official spot for the International Berlin Cinematog-

raphy Festival, accommodating several celebrities

of the moment.

Withhighceilingsandcustommadefurniture,the

spacious rooms andsuites captivatewiththeirunique

charm. The heart of this hotel is it’s living room, with

walls of nearly seven meters high and handmade fix-

tures, XL chestnut doors, industrial expansive win-

dows and a five meter chimney; these elements grant

warmth to the atmosphere of this place. The 120 years

of age walls unveil exposed bricks which allow the

past of this structure to live oncemore.

tel Zoo, una joya de la calle Kurfürs-

tendamm -desde los años 20’s hasta

los 50’s-, brilla resplandeciente una

vez más. La diseñadora Dayna Lee,

ha reinventado Zoo sin hacerlo perder su carácter

histórico. Con una atención minuciosa al detalle y la

preservación de los elementos originales del edificio,

Lee infusiona este espacio con aires neoyorkinos y

londinenses. Construido en el año de 1891, esta resi-

dencia privada y creada para una influyente familia,

fue convertida en un hotel en 1911. 1ara la dncada de

1950, fue el hotel o¬cial del Festival Internacional de

Cinematografía de Berlín, acomodando a varias cele-

bridades en aquellos tiempos.

Con altos techos y muebles hechos a la medida,

los espaciosos cuartos y suites cautivan con su en-

canto único. El corazón de este hospedaje es su es-

tancia, con paredes de siete metros de altura y mol-

duras hechas a mano, puertas XL de nogal,ventanas

industriales expansivas, y una chimenea de cinco

metros, que dan calor a la atmósfera de este lugar.

Las paredes de 120 años con ladrillos expuestos,

permiten que el pasado de esta estructura vuelva

a vivir.
