esta actividad sólo se realiza en muy pocos lugares y
no ha representado una derrama importante debido a
su poca difusión y mala organización.
Esta actividad se puede realizar en todo el terri-
torio mexicano, y las zonas con mayor facilidad son
las costas, debido a que ya cuentan con infraestruc-
tura para recibir turistas ávidos de estas experien-
cias. Además,
las aves marinas que habitan los
litorales mexicanos constituyen un extenso y varia-
do grupo.
Existen diferentes especies expertas en
aprovechar los organismos que viven en la zona cos-
tera, o sobre las playas, como los chorlitos, otras se
alimentan de los recursos que brinda la superficie de
las aguas, como las gaviotas y golondrinas de mar, y
finalmente están las que los obtienen de las zonas
profundas, como los cormoranes o los pelícanos que
capturan sus presas buceando.
Existen algunas más que no presentan especiali-
zación y pueden encontrarse en cualquiera de las
tres regiones, por lo que se las ha llamado “oportu-
nistas”, como las fragatas, que son verdaderos pira-
tas del aire.
En nuestras costas hay muchos lugares de gran
importancia para la observación y conservación de las
aves marinas, como Convoy, en el Caribe, o el Arrecife

Bird watching can be enjoyed throughout the

are extensive and form very varied groups. There
are different species, many of which are experts in
living off the organisms that live in the coastal area
or on the beach, such as plovers, others that feed of
the water’s surface, such as seagulls and sea swal-
lows and the species that feed from the deeper
areas, such as cormorants or pelicans, which catch
their food by diving their food by diving.
There are other species that have no specializa-
tion and can be found in all three regions, which is
why they are called “opportunists”, such as the
frigate birds, which are the real pirates of the air.
Our coasts offer many very important places
for observing and conserving marine birds, such
as Convoy, in the Caribbean coast or the Alacrán
