nly in a few timepieces made specially for
diving does technology take on as much
importance as in the new Rolex Submariner
Oyster Perpetual Date, which was launched at
Baselworld 2008. This piece is crafted from 18-
carat yellow or white gold and boasts an innova-
tive rotating bezel.

ing watches. Crafted from a single piece of 18-carat
yellow gold, the case boasts a new uni-directional
rotating bezel with a rotating CERACHROMdisc.
This pioneering watch has an Oyster bracelet
with a Glidelock clasp for easy adjustment. The
piece is designed to be used over a neoprene wet-
suit and is waterproof to 300 meters, is certified by
the Official Swiss Chronometer Control and its
movement is equipped with a shock and magnetic
field-proof parachrome spring.
As far as its movement is concerned, part of its
beauty can be appreciated in the inverse wheels.
They are granite colored, very hard and are distin-
guished by a special titanium-based composition,
enabling fine structures that are extremely resist-
ant to wear and tear and abrasion. The advantage
of this waterproofing process is that the pieces
acquire high resistance to use, corrosion and a
great surface hardness.
This system is the most used in watch mak-
ing. Using the winder, we command the winding
and setting the time by the edge wheel.
Following the mounting of the movement,
the stainless steel bracelet is then attached, the
time and date are set and the watch is mounted on
automatic wheels for observation for a minimum
of 24 hours. The watch has a steel folding-type
clasp.

tanta importancia como en el nuevo Rolex
Submariner Oyster Perpetual Date, el cual fue presentado
en Baselworld 2008. Esta pieza está fabricada con oro
amarillo o blanco de 18 quilates y posee un innovador bisel
giratorio
De estemodo se ha convertido en una pieza de referen-
cia universal de los relojes de buceo. Tallado en un bloque de
oro amarillo de 18 quilates, la caja se engalana con un nuevo
bisel giratorio unidireccional con disco giratorio de
Cerachrom.
Este reloj pionero posee un brazalete Oyster con
cierre Glidelock que se ajusta fácilmente, diseñado para
usarse sobre un traje de neopreno para bucear y es her-
mético hasta 300 metros, certificado por el Control
Oficial Suizo de Cronómetros (COSC), y su movimiento
esta equipado con el espiral parachrom, resistente a
golpes y a campos magnéticos
En cuanto a su mecanismo, en las ruedas inversoras
es donde se puede observar parte de la belleza del
movimiento. Son de color granate y de gran dureza y se
distingue por una composición especial a base de tita-
nio, dando lugar a estructuras finas extremadamente
resistentes al uso y a la abrasión. Las ventajas de este
proceso de hermetizado son que las piezas adquieren
gran resistencia al uso, a la corrosión y una gran dureza
superficial.
Este sistema es el más empleado en relojería. Por
medio de la tija comandamos la acción de dar cuerda y de
puesta en hora a través de la rueda de canto.
Tras todo el proceso de montaje del movimiento, se
procede a montar el brazalete, de acero inoxidable, poner
al día y hora correctos, y semonta el reloj sobre la rueda de
automáticos para observarlo un mínimo de 24 horas.
Posee un broche de acero tipo basculante.
Las dos opciones que ofrece este modelo son una ver-
dadera belleza en oro amarillo y blanco de 18 quilates - que
permiten escoger entre el acabado para el disco central en
Cerachrom negro y tambien en azul, sin duda, un tesoro
para aquellos buscadores en el fondo del mar.
