En las imágenes abstractas, provenientes de
experimentos en el cuarto oscuro, ha prescindido
por completo del uso de los negativos generados
por la cámara. Colores deslavados y pigmentos que
recorren puntuales el papel formando líneas y teji-
dos remiten al cuerpo y su visceralidad.
Hemorragias cromáticas aluden a fibras de los
músculos y cabellos, con una fuerza que el realis-
mo de una fotografía del cuerpo no podría lograr.
El trabajo de Tillmans rompe con la jerarquía
que establece el orden de las cosas, empezando
por su trayectoria que comenzó en los años de
1990 y ha hibridado alternativamente el mundo

In images that result from his experiments in
the dark room, he has completely dispensed with
the use of the negatives generated by the camera.
Washed-out colors and pigments that run across
the paper to form lines and fibers refer to the body
and its visceral elements. Chromatic hemorrhages
allude to the muscle fibers and hair with a force
that could be achieved by the realism of a
photograph of the body.
Tillmans’ work breaks with the hierarchy that
establishes the order of things, starting with his
career that began in the early 90s and has combined
the world of art and fashion. His work has been dis-
played inmuseums such as the Kunsthalle in Zurich
(1995), the Reina Sofía in Madrid (2002), the Tate
Gallery in London (2003), which won the Turner
prize in 2000, but has also been published in fashion
magazines such as ID and The Face, using models
such as Kate Moss andmusicianMoby.
