amón Bravo Prieto (1925-1998) es el buzo
mexicano que mayor renombre ha alcanzado
a nivel internacional. En el auge profesional
de ambos, entabló una amistosa relación científi-
ca con el investigador submarino francés, Jacques
Cousteau. Fue merecedor del Premio Nacional de
Periodismo por su divulgación científica de la ri-
queza mexicana, en la pantalla chica. Su visionaria
labor en defensa de los ecosistemas marinos dio
origen a la Medalla Ramón Bravo, que otorga el Go-
bierno de Quintana Roo.

most renowned Mexican diver who has
reached international fame. At the height
of both professional, scientific fields he enjoyed a
friendly relationship with the French submarine
researcher Jacques Cousteau. He was awarded the
National Journalism Award for his popular sci-
ence of Mexican wealth, on the small screen. His
visionary work in defense of marine ecosystems
led to Ramon Bravo Medal, awarded by the Gov-
ernment of Quintana Roo.
