•

Visa is not required for Mexican visitors to enter

Uruguay, but they must carry a passport valid for

at least three months.

• In order to promote tourism, foreigners get a

refund of the Value Added Tax (VAT) on tour-

ism, gastronomy, car and real estate services,

and more.

• There are no specific vaccination recommenda-

tions for Uruguay. However, it is advised to be

covered against typhus, hepatitis and tetanus.

• There are no restrictions on entry and exit of for-

eign currency in the country; it can be exchanged

in various banking institutions and exchange

houses found in several cities and destinations.

• As of December 2016, the alcohol tolerance

level for drivers was reduced to zero grams per

liter of blood.

• Those who have visited this country, known as

“the Switzerland of America”, agree in highlight-

ing Uruguayan people as one of the country’s

main appeals, because of their openness, friend-

liness and uninhibited personalities.

• Los viajeros de México no necesitan visado para

entrar a Uruguay. Deberán portar el pasaporte

con una vigencia mínima de tres meses.

• Con el fin de fomentar el turismo, los visitantes

extranjeros reciben la devolucióndel Impuesto al Valor

Agregado (IVA) en servicios turísticos, gastronómicos,

renta de autos e inmuebles, entre otros.

• No existe ninguna recomendación especial de

vacunación en Uruguay. Aunque se aconseja estar

cubiertos contra el tifus, la hepatitis y el tétanos.

• No hay restricciones para la entrada y salida

de divisas en el país, que pueden ser canjeadas

en diversas instituciones bancarias y casas de

cambio que abundan en ciudades y destinos.

• A partir de diciembre de 2016, el nivel de tolerancia

de alcohol permitido a los conductores de vehículos

se redujo a cero gramos por litro de sangre.

• Quienes han visitado este país, renombrado como

“la Suiza de América”, coinciden en destacar

a los pobladores como uno de sus atractivos

principales, por su carácter abierto, amigable y

desinhibido.
