lex watch.
“While sailing around the globe on board the Gip-
sy Moth IV, my Rolex watch survived from many
a violent beating without a scratch.” he wrote in
a letter dated 1968. “I can’t imagine a more ro-
bust watch. When I used to to determine my po-
sition with a sextant while standing on the bow,
it would often become drenched by the waves,
which never seemed to affect it.”
In this matter, Sir Francis Chichester de-
scribes the valuable aid that his Rolex brought
with it during his voyage, where he had to deter-
mine his location and routes depending on where
the sun and the stars were. His adventure com-
panion, though, was right along with him.
His prowess represents the spirit of sailing
and adventure.

«Durante mi viaje alrededor del mundo a bordo del
Gipsy Moth IV, mi reloj Rolex sufrió en diversas oca-
siones golpes violentos sin resultar dañado», relató
en una carta fechada en 1968. «No puedo imaginar-
me un reloj más robusto. Cuando lo utilizaba para es-
tablecer mi posición con el sextante sobre la cubierta
de proa. A menudo sufría las sacudidas y mojaduras
de las olas que rompían sobre la cubierta, cosa que
nunca pareció afectarle».
De esta manera describe Sir Francis Chichester la
valiosa ayuda que su reloj Rolex le aportó durante su
travesía, en la que debió determinar su localización y
rutas en función de la posición del sol y las estrellas
con su compañero de aventura como gran aliado.
Su proeza representa el espíritu de la vela y de
