El Mar de Wadden es también un biotopo único y

de arena y focas grises, cárdidos y hierbas marinas;
en unos 10,000 Km

se halla una extraordinaria va-
riedad de aproximadamente 10,000 seres vivien-
tes, entre animales, plantas y microorganismos,
adaptados a este paisaje en constante cambio, al-
gunos de los cuales sólo viven aquí. Además, todos
los años hacen pausa en el Mar de Wadden unos
diez a doce millones de aves migratorias, en su vue-
lo de Sudáfrica al norte de Siberia y Canadá, bus-
cando alimento. Escondido bajo el fondo marino, se
halla un particular tesoro del Mar de Wadden: en un
metro cúbico de agua, cieno y arena, viven hasta
100,000 micro animales, a menudo bien camuflados
y no reconocibles a primera vista.
The Wadden Sea is also a unique biotype, and it’s
the greatest ecosystem of it’s kind on Earth. Sand
worms and grey seals, cardiidae and seaweed; Within
10,000 Km2 an extraordinary variety of approxi-
mately 10,000 living creatures, amongst them; ani-
mals, plants and microorganisms that have adapted
themselves to this forever changing landscape, some
of these living beings can only be found here. Also,
nearly twelve million migratory bird species make a
stopat theWaddenSeaduring their route insearchof
food in order to reach their final destinations which
are South Africa, Siberia and Canada. Hidden on the
ocean floor, a particular treasure can be found: in
one cubic meter of water, amongst the seaweed and
moss, up to100,000micro animals live, they are often
well camouflaged and cannot be seen at first sight.
