mproving what is already considered as perfect
was the challenge faced by the engineers at the
Canadian firm Bombardier, which introduced the
newChallenger 605, the next generation in its success-
ful family of business jets, deliveries of which will
begin in 2007. The official launch the place at the NBAA
Fair and the test flight took place in early January.
The 605 has all the standard equipment, which in
its predecessor, the Challenger 604, were considered
optional. This can be appreciated from the moment
you board the aircraft and carefully observe the cock-
pit, where the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 4 suite has
given way to the Pro Line 21, Jeppesen avionics and
greater interior space, which was redesigned to raise
the tradition of the Challenger in terms of productiv-
ity and value.
The aircraft operates at a maximum cruising speed
of Mach 0.82 with a range of 4,045 nautical miles.
The new generation flight deck offers a 55%
increase in display visibility compared to the current
flight deck and is equippedwith themost advancedLCD
technology including four 10” x 12" screens arranged
vertically, whichshowl satellite graphs of the climate in
real-time and electronic tables to enhance critical situ-
ations and reduce the pilot's workload.
In order to ensure the highest level of passenger
comfort during flights, the cabin, which has been
totally redesigned, offers a greater useful volume and
working area, a new Ethernet-based Electronics
System characterized by gallery controls and a VIP
touch screen, as well as the Rockwell Collins
Integrated Flight Information System (IFIS) as stan-
dard equipment.
Room for up to 12 Passengers
The passenger cabin, the widest of any current large
business jet, is 2.49 meters wide with comfortable
headroom of 1.85 meters, as well as a length of 8.66
meters and is ideal to transport 12 passengers in a
silent and comfortable work and rest area. The cabin
has been redesigned and now has larger windows, a
new LED lighting system and an entertainment sys-
tem including CD and DVD players, the latter connect-
ed to tow 18” monitors with the option of receiving
television signals via satellite through the TailWind
100 system, as well as an Internet connection.
The aircraft has Active Noise and Vibration
Control, which prevents engine noise in the cabin,
making the flight more pleasant by being able to talk
and enjoy videos without the fatigue produced by the

nueva generación de su exitosa familia de business jets.
El lanzamiento oficial se realizó en la Feria NBAA y a ini-
cios de enero realizó primer vuelo de prueba. El
Callenger 605 se empezará a entregar en el año 2007.
El 605 tendrá como equipo estándar todos los deta-
lles que en su predecesor, el Challenger 604, se conside-
raban opcionales. Y esto se aprecia desde el momento
en que uno ingresa al avión y observa con detenimiento
la cabina de mando, donde la suite Pro Line 4 de
Rockwell Collins ha dado paso a la suite Pro Line 21, ade-
más de la aviónica Jeppesen, así como un mayor espacio
interior, el cual fue rediseñado para elevar la tradición
del Challenger en cuanto a productividad y valor.
Opera a una velocidad máxima crucero de mach 0.82,
con una autonomía de 4,045 millas náuticas. Su cabina de
vuelo de nueva generación ofrece un incremento de 55%
del área total de visualización en relación con la actual
cabina de vuelo, equipada con la más avanzada tecnología
LCD –cuatro pantallas de 10 por 12 pulgadas alineadas
verticalmente–, que ofrecen gráficas satelitales del clima
en tiempo real y tablas electrónicas para realzar las situa-
ciones críticas y reducen la carga de trabajo del piloto.
Para asegurar la mayor comodidad de los pasajeros
durante el vuelo, la cabina, totalmente estudiada y redi-
señada, brinda mayor volumen útil y del área de trabajo,
y un nuevo Sistema Electrónico sobre base Ethernet
caracterizado por los controles de galería y touch scre-
en VIP, así como el Sistema Integrado de Información de
Vuelo Rockwell Collins (Rockwell Collins Integrated
Flight Information System, IFIS) como equipo estándar.
Hasta 12 pasajeros
La cabina de pasajeros es más ancha que la de cualquier
business jet de tamaño grande existente actualmente
(2.49 metros), con una altura cómoda para estar de pie
(1.85 metros), así como de un largo ideal para llevar
cómodamente a 12 pasajeros en una silenciosa y con-
fortable área para trabajar y descansar (8.66 metros).
En esta versión la cabina fue rediseñada, cuenta con
ventanas más grandes, nuevo sistema de iluminación en
base a LED y sistema de entretenimiento con reproducto-
res CD y DVD, este último conectado a dos monitores de
18’’, con la opción de recibir la señal de TV vía satélite a tra-
vés del sistema TailWind 100, así como conexión a Internet.
Viene con el Active Nosie and Vibration Control, que
evita los ruidos del motor en la cabina y con ello la estan-
cia resulta más placentera al poder conversar o disfrutar
