Pindaya
Parada obligada en el recorrido por Myanmar son las
cuevas de Pindaya. Durante siglos han guardado en
su interior miles de imágenes de Buda, entre las que

rá el extraño ambiente místico que se respira en cada
rincón de las fascinantes cavernas.
Cultura
Myanmar, conocida como “la tierra de las pagodas de
oro”, es uno de los mayores y más influyentes cen-
tros de la cultura budista en Asia. Su cultura se
encuentra profunda e indivisiblemente unida a sus
arraigadas creencias religiosas.
El fascinante espectáculo del teatro de ese país,
el Pue, mezcla la ópera tradicional con la ancestral
representación de las sombras chinas, música y dan-
zas seculares.
La producción artística es casi por completo de
origen religioso, o profundamente relacionado con
las prácticas budistas. Si bien la arquitectura y la
escultura muestran clara influencia hindú, el arte
laico es casi inexistente en el país.
Fiestas
Las fiestas más señaladas en Myanmar son las del Año
Nuevo, en las que semultiplican las representaciones de
Pue, que en ocasiones se alargan durante toda la noche.
Las celebraciones tienen lugar durante el mes de abril,

Festivals
New Year is the festival high point in Myanmar,
when the Pue theater shows multiply and at times
last all night long. Celebrations are held in April,
which is the hottest month of the year all over the
country. This means that any tank of water or
