En Myanmar suele ser complicado e incómodo des-
plazarse de un lugar a otro. Los aviones utilizados
por Myanmar Airways son, normalmente, viejos
Fokker de hélice y la compañía parece desconocer
por completo el significado de palabras como pun-
tualidad, impaciencia y agotamiento. No obstante,
desde hace un par de años opera la compañía priva-
da Air Mandalay, mucho más segura y eficiente.
Río Ayeyarwady
Tal vez la forma más placentera de conocer Myanmar,
sentir su pulso, vivir sus leyendas y comprender su
historia sea viajar a través del río Ayeyarwady.
Mientras que se disfruta de la tranquilidad del río, la
vida en las riberas ofrece fascinación sin fin.
La travesía en barco, descendiendo por el río
Ayeryarwady, además de ser cómoda y tranquila,
ofrece al visitante una buena oportunidad de cono-
cer esta parte del país. Y si el viajero dispone de
tiempo, existe la posibilidad de continuar durante
una semana hasta Yangon. Un viaje a Myanmar no
sería completo sin un viaje fluvial sobre el Irrawaddy.

In Myanmar, getting from one place to the other
seems complicated and uncomfortable. The air-
craft used by Myanmar Airways are usually aged
turbo-prop Fokkers that seem to be completely
unaware of the words punctuality, impatience
and exhaustion. However, a private company Air
Mandalay starts operating a couple of years ago,
which is much saber and more efficient.
Ayeyarwady River
Perhaps themost pleasant way to seeMyanmar, to
feel its pulse, to live its legends and understand its
history is to travel along the Ayeyarwady River.
The riverbank life offers endless fascination while
you enjoy the calm of the river.
The boat journey, descending along the River
Ayeryarwady, besides being comfortable and
tranquil, offers visitors a good opportunity to see
this part of the country. And if you have time, you
can continue for another week on to Yangon. A
visit to Myanmar would not be complete without
a river trip to Irrawaddy, for which there are two
main companies: River/S Pandaw and Road of
Mandalay.
Gastronomy
Curry and rice forms the base of Burmese cuisine,
but unlike the rest of South East Asia, the curry is
not too spicy and has much more flavor than in
neighboring countries. It is easy to find Chinese
and Hindu food and of course, crunchy fried
grasshoppers, whichno traveler, even the fussiest,
