Mexican Participation in ARC 2008
T
he most important Rally for sail cruises in
the world, ARC 2008 (Atlantic Rally for
Cruisers), will celebrate its 23rd edition, de
forma uninterruptedly, the next 23rd of November
of this current year.
At present, it is the most important event to
take sailboats from Europe to the Caribbean and of
the safest way, since it counts with a complete
organization to give the participants the safety
and fun that are required, in a race of more than 2
thousand 700 nautical miles.
There will participate more than 225 sailboats
from several nations of the world, they will set sail
fromGrand Canaria, crossing the Atlantic, to finish
in Rodney Bay in Santa Lucía, Caribbean Sea.
In this adventure a sailboat with aMexican flag
will participate, with the support of the Mexican
Sailboat Federation (FMV): Bajavento, property of
the captain Ignacio Félix, who has several years of
experience sailing in Europe in the most impor-
tant races of that continent and who with the help
of Veronique Llosa and Jorge Carranza, will be res-
ponsible to carry part of the tactic in the regatta.
The crew obtained the support of the FMV
and of the Ocean class in Mexico, with the pur-
pose of joining a professional crew, which takes

en el mundo, ARC 2008 (Atlantic Rally for
Cruicers), celebrará su edición 23, de forma
ininterrumpidamente, el próximo 23 de noviem-
bre del año en curso.
En la actualidad, es el evento más importante
para llevar veleros de Europa al Caribe y de la forma
más segura, ya que cuenta con toda una organiza-
ción para dar a los participantes la seguridad y
diversión que se requiere, en una carrera de más de
2 mil 700 millas náuticas.
Participarán más de 225 veleros de diversas
naciones del mundo, los cuales zarparán de Gran
Canaria, cruzando el Atlántico, para tener meta en la
Bahía de Rodney en Santa Lucía, Mar Caribe.
En esta aventura participará un velero con ban-
dera mexicana, con apoyo de la Federación Mexicana
de Vela (FMV): Bajavento, propiedad del capitán
Ignacio Félix, quien tiene varios años de experiencia
veleando en Europa, en las carreras más importantes
de ese continente y quien con la ayuda de Veronique
Llosa y Jorge Carranza, será el responsable de llevar
parte de la táctica en la regata.
La tripulación consiguió el apoyo de la FMV y de
la clase Oceánica en México, con la finalidad de con-
