Rescate y preservación
Con el tiempo, fue rescatado y en 2010 inició una extensa
renovación que duró 18 meses en el Yachting Develop-
ments, en Nueva Zelanda; ahí se detectó que únicamente
estaban intactas la transmisión y la hélice; se cambió de
lugar el sistema de cuadernas metálicas de las cubiertas
conel finde ajustar los nuevos vectores dedistribuciónde
cargas, así como de la nueva configuración de la cubierta.
Durante toda la renovación se tuvo absoluto cuidado en
preservar la embarcación original; asimismo se aprovechó
la ventaja de los sistemas de velamen del siglo XX, con un
realce en el desempeño y unamejorada funcionalidad.
Rescue and preservation
Eventually, in 2010 she underwent an exten-
sive 18-month refit at Yachting Developments
in New Zealand where it was pinpointed that
the gearbox and propeller were intact; the steel
deck framing was relocated to accommodate the
new load paths of the new deck layout. Absolute
care was taken throughout the refit to preserve
as much of the original vessel as possible, while
taking advantage of the twentieth century sail-
ing systems, with an enhanced performance and
an improved functionality.
