Esta isla Antillana descansa sobre las cristalinas y
azules aguas del Caribe. Es un destino que representa
un remanso para aquellos que anhelan paz y tranqui-
lidad. Gustavia es encontrada en una bahía en forma
de canal que es protegida y vigilada por cuatro fuertes
que actualmente están en ruinas. Este lugar muestra
una vocación portuaria, ésta es la razón histórica de
su existencia.
En sus inicios, era llamada Puerto Carenage, du-
rante la colonización fue rebautizada por los suecos
en honor a su rey Gustavo III, en 1785. Este puerto
siempre fue un centro de intercambio comercial. Del

four forts that are currently in ruins. This place
shows a portuary vision, which is the reason of
it’s historic existence.
During its beginnings it was called Carenage
port, during the colonization it was re named by
the Swedish in honor of their king, Gustave III in
1785. This port was always a center of commercial
exchange. In the same way, during the colonial wars
that ripped the Caribbean during the XVIII century,
St. Barths
