In the second part, we’ll explore some of the
most beautiful tourist attractions of the region,
especially theirs beaches, some of them with the
magic of virgin natural places, as well as the flora
and fauna that inhabit in them.
Fishing Zone
Duetoit’suniqueconditions,theSeaofCortesisthe
most important fishing zone in the country, in which
at least 50%of thenational production it’s captured.
However, the excessive exploitation of the
resources in the area as well as some inadequate
techniques employed in the capture are diminishing
the entirepopulationof fishandother species, which
endangers not only the whale’s annual visit but the
complex ecosystem that exists in this location.
Marine Wealth
In the region of the great islands 14 species of
birds nest, which are fully dependent on the mari-
ne abundance and are indicators of the health and
ecological equilibrium of the gulf.
For example: Rasa Island is the most important
reproductive sanctuary for the elegant esterna and
the ploma seagull. The island of San PedroMártir is
the other sea birds is reserve.
In this small volcanic island, the blue legs
booboo birds have found a shelter for its
reproduction. Here the biggest colony of blue

boo birds in Mexico.
Cabo’s National Park

Zona pesquera
Por sus condiciones únicas, el Mar de Cortés es la
zona pesquera más importante del país, en éste se
captura al menos el 50% de la producción nacional.
No obstante, la sobreexplotación de los recursos
de la zona así como algunas de las inadecuadas téc-
nicas empleadas en la captura, están diezmando
poblaciones completas de peces y otras especies, lo
que pone en peligro no sólo la visita de las ballenas,
sino el complejo ecosistema que existe en este sitio.
Abundancia marina
En la región de las grandes islas anidan 14 espe-
cies de aves que dependen por completo de la abun-
dancia marina y son un indicador de la salud y el
equilibrio ecológico del Golfo.
Por ejemplo: Isla Rasa es el santuario reproducti-
vo más importante del mundo para la Esterna
Elegante y la Gaviota Ploma. La otra reserva de aves
marinas es la Isla de San Pedro Mártir.
En esta pequeña isla volcánica, los pájaros bobos
de patas azules han encontrado el refugio para su
reproducción. Aquí anida la colonia de pájaros bobos
de patas azules más grande del mundo, y es el hogar
de la colonia más grande de México para los pájaros
bobos de patas cafés.
Parque Nacional de Cabo
A tan sólo 70 kilómetros al noreste de Los Cabos
se encuentra el único arrecife que existe en el Mar de
Cortés, el Parque Nacional de Cabo Pulmo, aquí hay
