Alrededores de La Paz: Bahía de Balandra
A 10 millas náuticas de La Paz se halla este otro gran teso-
ro de la región, la Bahía de Balandra. Es una bahía fácil de
identificar por el verde esmeralda de sus aguas—el cual se
difunde en una multiplicidad de colores debido a las espe-
cies que allí habitan—y por la fina arena blanca de sus pla-
yas. La tranquilidad de estas aguas favorece la práctica de
deportes, como kayac y snorkeling.
La orilla norte de este maravilloso lugar presenta
condiciones beneficiosas para el anclaje de embarcacio-
nes. En esa zona hay una roca en forma de hongo, cuya
punta está detenida por un peñón, y es uno de los atrac-
tivos principales de esta ensenada.
Al este de la bahía se encuentra playa Tecolote, una de
las más grandes de la región, la cual está conformada por
amplias zonas de arena. Tecolote se localiza al terminar el
extremo occidental del Canal de San Lorenzo, y para llegar
allí es necesario anclar a unos cuantos metros del lugar.
Sin lugar a dudas, La Paz y sus alrededores son un pa-
raíso, joyas turísticas de México, con un desarrollo que va
viento en popa y que conquista a primera vista.

Around La Paz: Balandra Bay
Balandra Bay, one of the region’s greatest treasures, is
ten nautical miles from La Paz. It is easily identified
by its emerald green waters —that encompass a mul-
titude of tones created by the species that live there
—and the white sand of its beaches. The tranquility
of these waters is perfect for sports like kayaking and
snorkeling.
The northern shore of thismarvelous place is excel-
lent for dropping anchor. One of themain attractions in
this area is amushroom-shaped rock, the tip of which is
held in place by a rocky cliff.
Tecolote beach is located on this bay. It is one of the
largest in the region and has long expanses of sand.
Tecolote is at the eastern end of the San Lorenzo chan-
nel and youmust anchor a fewmeters away to reach it.
La Paz and its environs are a true paradise and one
of Mexico’s finest vacation treasures. It is a place that
you fall in love with at first sight and its development
is going full speed ahead.
