Painting

Bhutanese paintings are the portrayal of human

beings and their interaction with nature and

their beliefs. The colors of this craft can be appre-

ciated in flags, tools, murals, frescoes, canvases,

fabric, paper, wood, stone and much more.

Paintings often are the visual reflection of the

inner self; thus, they depict spirituality, the sig-

nificance of Buddhism, happiness and all things

that are sacred to them and that proudly represent

Bhutanese identity. Old paintings are considered

sacred and are preserved for their cultural value.

Las pinturas butanesas son el retrato del ser huma-

no y su comunicación con la naturaleza y sus creen-

cias. Los colores de esta práctica se pueden apreciar

en banderas, herramientas, murales, frescos, lienzos,

telas, papel, madera, piedra y mucho más.

Las pinturas, con frecuencia, son un reflejo visual

del ser interno; de esa forma, ilustran espiritualidad,

la importancia del budismo, la felicidad y todo aquello

que es sagrado para ellos y que representa orgullosa-

mente la identidad butanesa. Las pinturas antiguas

son consideradas sagradas y son preservadas por su

valor cultural.
