I
ndependent of the sporting qualities of this 4-
door coupe from the famous AMG production
house, the CLS55 AMG is the most sensual car that
Mercedes has produced to date. This statement, which
derives from the tremendously sexy contours of this
car, added to black, beige or silver gray colors, make it
look marvelous so owners of this special automobile
will be highly delighted with its beautiful silhouette
for many years to come.
>From another point of view, we can also appreci-
ate its dynamic qualities, which set it apart from its
stable mate, the CLS500, thanks to its powerful 5.4
liter V8 24 valve SOHC supercharged and inter-cooled
engine. This mighty power plant develops 469 HP at
6,100 rpmand a tremendous torque of 516 lb/ft at only
2,650 rpm, more than enough to compensate the
ratios of its automatic transmission with manual
mode from the controls on the steering wheel to cata-
pult the Mercedes from a standstill to 100km/h in just
4.6 seconds; a very impressive for a saloon weighing
almost two tons, which continues accelerating fero-
ciously to turn in times of 9.8 seconds from 0 to 160
km/h and 24.9 seconds from 0 to 240 km/h, only to be
sadly “detained” by and electronic speed limiter,
which abruptly ends the speed-fest of this magnifi-
cent car.
However, this agility and performance, which are
truly impressive, also apply to the braking power of
the CLS55 AMG, thanks to its enormous discs, which
are ventilated and perforated for improved heat dissi-
pation and bring the car to a halt from110 km/h in just
49 meters.
On the inside, the CLS55 is overwhelmingly seduc-
tive, thanks to its very elegant dashboard, accentuat-
ed with matte-finished burled walnut inserts, leather
upholstery with Alcantara in the upper part of the
backrests. The seats are really comfortable, offer great
support and are highly adjustable and even have a
massage function to “caress” the driver and front pas-
senger to prevent the evitable numbness from sitting
during long journeys, which is precisely the ‘forte’ of
this powerful automobile.

esta coupé de cuatro puertas de la famosa casa AMG,
el CLS55 AMG es el auto más sensual que Mercedes
haya fabricado hasta la fecha. Esta afirmación que se de-
riva de las contornos tremendamente sexys de este auto,
aunado al color negro, o beige o gris plata, lo hace lucir
maravilloso, por lo que los propietarios de este auto es-
pecial serán altamente gratificados con su bella silueta
por muchos años.
Desde otro punto de vista, podemos apreciar tam-
bién sus cualidades dinámicas, las que lo diferencían de
su hermano el CLS500 por su poderoso motor V8 super-
cargado e interenfriado, SOHC de 24 válvulas y 5.4 litros
de cilindrada. Desarrolla 469 HP a 6,100 r/m y un tremen-
do torque de 516 libras/pie a escasísimas 2,650 r/m, más
que suficiente para compensar las cinco relaciones de su
transmisión automática con modo manual, a través de
teclas en el volante, y catapultar al Mercedes desde la in-
movilidad, haciendo el 0-100 km/h en solamente 4.6 se-
gundos. Cifra muy rápida para un sedán de casi dos
toneladas de peso, que continúa acelerando ferozmente
para darnos tiempos en el 0-160 km/h de 9.8 segundos y
en el 0-240 km/h de 24.9 segundos para, lamentable-
mente, ser “detenido” a 250 km/h por su gobernador
electrónico, terminando así la fiesta de velocidad de este
magnífico auto.
Sin embargo, esta agilidad y rendimiento, que son
impresionantes, aplica también cuando el CLS55 AMG de-
be ser detenido, ya que sus enormes discos ventilados y
perforados, para mejor disipación del calor, lo inmovilizan
en cortísimos 49 metros, de 110-0 km/h.
Pasando al apartado de los interiores, el CLS55 AMG
es también sumamente seductor, ya que tiene una dispo-
sición del tablero muy elegante, acentuada por insertos
de madera de nogal oscuro, de laurel brillante o mate, y
asientos de piel con alcántara en la parte superior de los
respaldos. Estos últimos son realmente confortables, de
gran soporte y ampliamente ajustables, teniendo incluso
una función de masaje para “apapachar” a su conductor y
acompañante, para así evitar el adormecimiento de los
glúteos en viajes largos, que es precisamente el fuerte de
este poderoso auto.
