Volkswagen continúa con el proyecto de sacar a
circulación su prototipo VW XL-1.
Este vehículo es la síntesis de los modelos an-
teriores 1-Litre (2002) y L1 (2009) y constituye un
avance más en pos del auto que alcance un rendi-
miento excepcional con sólo un litro de combustible.
Este automóvil estará impulsado por un motor
híbrido compuesto de un 800 cc TDI de dos cilin-
dros con 48 CV y otro eléctrico de 27 CV.
A fin de reducir el peso a sólo 795 kg, Volkswa-
gen patentó un nuevo procedimiento para la fabri-
cación de las piezas de fibra de carbono llamado
Moldeo por Transferencia de Resina; además, utili-
zó únicamente materiales ligeros como magnesio,
cerámica y aluminio.
Y en materia de sustentabilidad, en VW XL-1
también marcará nuevos estándares al emitir sólo
24 gramos de CO2 por kilómetro recorrido.

put on the road its prototype VW XL-1.
This vehicle will be in addition to the synthesis of
previous projects. Examples are, the 1-Litre (2002) and
L1 (2009), a step forward in the searchof a car reaching
exceptional performancewith a liter of fuel.
This car will be powered by a hybrid engine
consisting of a two-cylinder 800 cc TDI with 48 hp
and an electric engine of 27 hp.
Aiming to reduce the weight to only 795 kg,
Volkswagen patented a new method for the man-
ufacture of carbon fiber parts called Resin Trans-
fer Model. Additionally Volkswagen used only
lightweight materials such as magnesium, alu-
minum and ceramics.
In terms of sustainability, the VW XL-1 will
also set new standards by issuing just 24 grams
of Carbon dioxide per kilometer.
