l archipiélago de Fiyi está situado en el conti-
nente insular de Oceanía, al sur del Océano Pací-
fico, que es distinguido por ser el más extenso y
profundo del mundo.
El universo costero y submarino de las islas que
conforman este archipiélago –alrededor de 300–
es apreciado como uno de los destinos internacio-
nales preferidos para la práctica del buceo. Esto se
debe a su riqueza y diversidad: estrechos, bahías,
caletas, playas, cuevas, manglares, paredes arre-
cifes, pasadizos, cavernas, litorales y arrecifes,
donde los corales juegan un papel protagónico.
