• Las mejoras compras que pueden hacerse en Indo-
nesia son las de artesanías hechas por los habitan-
tes locales, que van desde ropa hasta joyería. El me-
jor lugar para hacerlo es Jakarta. Uno de los objetos
más cotizados y más recomendables de adquirir es
el batik, telas teñidas que son la materia prima de
ropa, decoraciones y otros objetos.
• Para los que deseen disfrutar del surf, Indonesia
no tiene una época específica y este deporte pue-
de practicarse durante todo el año. No obstante, la
mejor época se da entre mayo y octubre, cuando en
la costa del sureste soplan los vientos y las olas son
más grandes y consistentes.
• Si se planea viajar durante las celebraciones del Ra-
madán, entre el mes de agosto y septiembre, es im-
portante planear bien los horarios de visitas y salidas,
pues como cualquier festividad, los horarios laborales
en establecimientos pueden verse afectados. Asimis-
mo, es recomendable conocer un poco sobre el signifi-
cado de la festividad y cómo comportarse durante ella.
• Aunque la temporada de lluvias tiene mala reputa-
ción, ésta puede presentar ciertos beneficios. Las
altas temperaturas en la región sureste de Asia, que
pueden ser agobiantes, se reducen gracias a la llu-
via; asimismo, el número de visitantes baja, por lo
que la demanda (y el precio) del hospedaje también.
• No es necesario dominar el indonesio para mover-
se a través del país, pero no está de más aprender
algunas palabras que pueden ser útiles para mejo-
