well maintained Club de Golf Palma Real Ixtapa is an
18-hole course designed by Robert Trent Jones. It fea-
tures a clubhouse, Pro shop and restaurant. Club de
Golf La Marina is an 18-hole course designed by
Robert von Hagge, which also has a clubhouse, Pro
shop and restaurant.
In addition, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo is now a destina-
tion for meetings and conventions, doubly pleasant
because of the wide range of possibilities it offers
companies planning events here. In additional to
hotels with installations for congresses, there is the
Convention Center, located in the Hotel Azul Meliá,
that has a capacity for 2,500 and is ranked second in
the country.
Hotel infrastructure
In accordance with data provided by FONATUR, Ixtapa-
Zihuatanejo has registered growth in the number of
its tourist accommodations and is one of the beach
destinations that has shown the greatest increase in
this category. In addition there is the Convention
Center, the completion of the infrastructure for two
important developments and a rise in the number of
visitors arriving by car.
Prior to 2002, hotel occupancy fluctuated
between 35 and 49%; today, with more than 900,000
domestic and international arrivals, it registers an
average of 67%. For example, during 2004 Ixtapa-
Zihuatanejo registered an increase of 8.39% in the

un lugar para realizar eventos y convenciones, doblemente
placenteros por su amplia gama de posibilidades para cubrir
las necesidades de cualquier compañía. Además de los hoteles
que disponen de salones para este tipo de eventos, este cen-
tro turístico ya cuenta con un Centro de Convenciones que se
localiza en las instalaciones del Hotel Azul Meliá, el segundo en
el país con capacidad para 2,500 personas.

De acuerdo con información de FONATUR, el CIP Ixtapa-Zi-
huatanejo ha registrado un crecimiento en su oferta de habi-
taciones turísticas, convirtiéndose en uno de los destinos
turísticos de playa que más ha crecido en ese rubro, sin dejar
de mencionar la puesta en operación de su Centro de Con-
venciones, el término de la urbanización de dos importantes
desarrollos y el aumento en el arribo de turistas vía terrestre.
Antes de 2002 su ocupación hotelera fluctuaba entre 35
y 49 %, y en la actualidad registra ocupaciones promedio de
67 %, con el registro de más de 900,000 llegadas de turistas
