Fonatur dio a conocer que Los Cabos afianzará su vocación
náutica y golfística con una nueva Marina y tres campos
de golf adicionales, sobre todo porque parece que ahora sí
se van a poder echar a andar tres proyectos que habían es-
tado estancados: Puerto Los Cabos, Conjunto Residencial
Bellavista y el denominado Polígono III. En este último se
construye el Club Campestre San José, donde las obras de
infraestructura se iniciaron recientemente, con una inver-
sión privada de 50 millones de dólares.
El Club Campestre San José es un desarrollo resi-
dencial integral sobre una superficie de 220 hectáreas.
La infraestructura consiste en el trazo de calles, intro-
ducción de drenaje, alumbrado, planta de tratamiento
de aguas residuales y obras de cabeza para 900 lotes re-
sidenciales y condominales; 20 hectáreas serán desti-
nadas a lotes comerciales y cuatro hectáreas para
espacios de educación y cultura.
Tendrá un campo de golf de 18 hoyos diseñado por
Nicklaus Design, club de playa y club social donde habrá
un gran número de actividades que hoy por hoy no exis-
ten en Los Cabos, además de zonas verdes, de esparci-
miento y canchas deportivas. Este concepto obedece al
deseo de crear una comunidad privada donde se pueda
tener diversión y esparcimiento sin salir del desarrollo.
Se prevé que el campo de golf esté terminado a media-
dos del 2006 y que el desarrollo esté totalmente comer-
cializado en ocho años.
La meta global de la región se puede plantear como
la conformación de un corredor turístico e inmobiliario
fundado en el turismo náutico y golfístico, con activida-
des que permitan incrementar su competitividad y con-
solidar en el mediano plazo un circuito Los Cabos-La
Paz, articulado con el Proyecto del Mar de Cortés.

FONATUR was instrumental in communicating that
Los Cabos will further develop its nautical and golfing
facilities by building a new marina and three addi-
tional golf courses. It is almost certain that several
projects, which had been temporarily halted, will be
resumed: Puerto Los Cabos, Conjunto Residencial
Bellavista and Polígono III. The latter is where the
Club Campestre San José is being developed and
where infrastructure was recently begunwith the pri-
vate investment of 50 million dollars.
Club Campestre San José is an integral residential
development on 220 hectares (543 acres). Infrastruc-
ture consists of marking out the streets, installing
drainage, lighting, a residual water sewage-treat-
ment plant and basic infrastructure for 900 residen-
tial and condo lots. Twenty hectares (50 acres) will be
used for commercial lots and four hectares (10 acres)
will be used for educational and cultural spaces.
It will have an 18-hole golf course, by Nicklaus
Design, beach club and social club where a wide range of
activities, not available today in Los Cabos, will be
offered, as well as gardens, entertainment and sports
areas. This concept was developed to fulfill the desire to
create a private community where entertainment and
relaxation will be available without leaving the com-
pound. The golf course is being planned for completion
aboutmid-2006 and the complexwill be totally commer-
cialized in eight years. It can be said that the overall goal
for this area is focused on the shaping of a tourism and
real estate corridor, based on nautical and golfing
tourism with anchor activities, that will increase its
competitiveness andconsolidate, atmedium-term, aLos
Cabos-La Paz circuit known as the Sea of Cortez Project.
