n el corazón del Viejo San Juan, donde las calles
se alegran con los colores vivos de sus casas
antiguas, se encuentra un jardín secreto.
Al empujar la reja de hierro oxidado por los vien-
tos del mar, frente a la muralla norte donde las olas
azotan las piedras, se entra a un pequeño patio lleno
de plantas, pericos y guacamayas que entonan una
música dispareja, en medio de lianas que cubren el ár-
bol o parte de los muros donde la humedad inventa
extraños dibujos.
The Gallery Inn es una antigua villa del siglo XVII,
restaurada de tal manera que conserva un extraño en-
canto con su laberinto de patios, jardines y salones.
Ahí la dueña Jan D’Esopo expone sus obras. El piano
domina el escenario, los rincones invitan a conversar en
privado y las pocas habitaciones permiten al huésped
sumergirse en un universo de cuentos del pasado.
Algunos días de la semana se organizan unos
conciertos de música clásica en un ambiente íntimo,
creando una imagen surgida de una fantasía.
The Gallery Inn es un mundo diferente dentro de
los muros del Viejo San Juan, un encantador refugio
con sabor auténtico del pasado y un original concep-
to de una hostería de lujo y ambiente peculiar.

n the heart of Old San Juan, where the streets are alive
with the bright colors of the ancient houses, there is a
secret garden.
When you push the gate, rusted by the sea winds,
opposite the north wall, where the waves beat against the
rocks, you enter a small patio filled with plants, parakeets
and macaws, all singing a different song, where lianas
cover the trees and part of the walls and where the humid-
ity creates strange images.
The Gallery Inn is an old 17 th century villa, and it has
been restored in such a way that it preserves a strange
charm in its labyrinth of patios, gardens and rooms.
The owner, Jan D’Esopo, exhibits her art, a piano domi-
nates the setting, the nooks and crannies are an invitation
for private conversation and, because there are so few
rooms, guests can become submerged in a universe that
evokes tales of days gone by.
Several days of the week they organize classical music
concerts in an intimate setting, creating picture that
appears to have emerged from a fantasy.
The Gallery is a different world within the walls of Old
San Juan, an enchanting refuge with an authentic flavor of
the past and an original concept of a luxurious inn in a
very special setting.
