n 2006, Ferrari sacó a la luz el que ahora es uno
de sus modelos más representativos: el Ferrari
599 GTB Fiorano. Considerado el sucesor direc-
to del Ferrari 575M Maranello, está equipado con el
mismo motor del ya icónico Ferrari Enzo.
Con un importante linaje a sus espaldas, el Ferra-
ri 599 GTO se presenta como una edición limitada del
GTB Fiorano, pues serán fabricados apenas 599 espe-
címenes de este exclusivo modelo. Y a pesar de ser la
versión de otro coche, el 599 GTO posee característi-
cas que lo diferencian sustancialmente de su prede-
cesor. La primera de ellas es la denominación GTO o
Grand Turismo Omologata, que sólo otros dos coches
en la historia de la firma han utilizado; el 250 GTO, en
1962, y el 288 GTO, en 1984.
El diseño exterior es virtualmente igual al del GTB
Fiorano; no obstante, cuenta con detalles aerodinámi-
cos que mejoran su desempeño, como las entradas de
aire para refrigerar al motor, mientras que en su inte-
rior, se agregaron frenos de disco cerámicos, suspen-
siones magnéticas SCM2, control de tracción F1-Trac,
neumáticos deportivos de 20 pulgadas y sistema ABS.
Por su parte, los interiores no cambiaron demasia-
do en comparación con el GTB Fiorano; tanto el volan-
te como el tablero central son idénticos. No obstante,
los que sí cambiaron fueron el cuadro de instrumen-
tos, y se agregaron además una serie de botones en la
parte baja del tablero central. Asimismo, los asientos
del 599 GTO son ahora tipo baquet.
Con un motor V12 de 620 CV, puede llegar a 100
km por hora en 3.3 segundos, y lograr avanzar a 335
km por hora, su velocidad máxima. Esta capacidad se
debe en parte a los 1,680 kg del 599 GTO, un peso 85
kg menor al de su hermano mayor, gracias al uso de
materiales ligeros como fibra de carbono.

of its most representative models: the Ferrari
599 GTB Fiorano. Considered the direct succes-
sor to the Ferrari 575M Maranello, is equipped with
the same engine from the iconic Ferrari Enzo.
With an important lineage on its back, the Fer-
rari 599 GTO is presented as a GTB Fiorano limited
edition, it will be manufactured only 599 speci-
mens of this exclusive model. And although it is
another car’s different version, the 599 GTO has
features that differ substantially from its prede-
cessor. The first is the name GTO, or Grand Turismo
Omologata, that only two other cars in the history
of the firm have used: the 250 GTO (1962) and the
288 GTO (1984).
The exterior design is virtually equal to that of
GTB Fiorano, however, with details that enhance
aerodynamic performance, such as the air in-
takes to cool the engine, while inside, ceramic disc
brakes were added, magnetic suspensions SCM2,
traction control F1-Trac, 20-inch sports tires and
ABS system.
Meanwhile, the interiors have not changed
much compared to the GTB Fiorano, both the steer-
ing wheel and main panel are identical. However,
something that did change was the instruments,
and a series of buttons were added as well in the
lower main panel. Also, the 599 GTO seats are
bucket type now.
With a 620 hp V12 engine, the car can reach 100
km per hour in 3.3 seconds and achieve progress to
335 km per hour maximum speed. This capability is
due in part to the 599 GTO’s 1.680 kg, 85 kg less than
its big brother, through the use of lightweight ma-
terials such as carbon fiber.
