De la mano de su esposa Lynne, Doug Seus, de 72
años de edad, ha dedicado más de 40 años de su vida a
entrenar osos Kodiak, siendo reconocido como uno de
los mejores del mundo. Uno de sus compañeros más
memorables fue Bart the Bear, un macho Kodiak de
816 kg y 2.9 metros de alto, nacido en Alaska en 1977.
Bart inició su carrera artística en la película Wind-
walker, en 1980, pero no fue sino hasta 1988, con el
filme The Bear, que ganó el reconocimiento del públi-
co. En 2000, afectado por el cáncer, Bart murió duran-
te el rodaje del documental Growing Up Grizzly, pre-
sentado por Brad Pitt, con quien Bart ya había actuado
en Legends of the Fall. Este oso también compartió
créditos con actores como John Candy, Dan Aykroyd,
Annette Bening, Ethan Hawke, Steven Seagal, Gregory
Peck, Alec Baldwin y Anthony Hopkins.
A Bart, también se le recuerda por su participación
durante la gala de los premios Oscar en 1998, cuando

Actualmente, Doug Seus presume de su amistad
con Little Bart o Bart II, otro oso Kodiak nacido en

Hand in hand with his wife Lynne, Doug Seus, 72,
has devoted more than 40 years of his life to train-
ing Kodiak bears, being recognized as one of the
best trainers in the world. One of his most memo-
rable companions was Bart, the Bear, an 816 kg 2.90
m tall, Kodiak male bear, born in Alaska, in 1977.
Bart started his artistic career in the mov-
ie Windwalker, in 1980, but it was not until 1988,
with the film The Bear, when he earned public rec-
ognition. In 2000, affected by cancer, Bart diedwhile
shooting the documentary Growing Up Grizzly,
presented by Brad Pitt, with whom Bart had already
performed in Legends of the Fall. This bear shared
credits as well with actors like John Candy, Dan Ayk-
royd, Annette Bening, Ethan Hawke, Steven Seagal,
