aha Hadid describía al Irak de su infan-
cia como un país liberal, en el cual hasta
1958, incluso había un Ministerio de la
Mujer. En varias entrevistas contaba que
el primer recuerdo de su vocación proce-
día de los seis o siete años y estaba relacionado con la
construcción de la casa de su tía; refería un momento
en el que ella pudo ver desde muy cerca y por primera
vez un plano arquitectónico, siendo algo tan mágico
que la intrigó fascinándola.
Su padre, Mohamed Hadid, prominente persona-
lidad de Bagdad, le proveyó de la mejor formación
disponible. Al terminar sus estudios en la Univer-
sidad Americana de Beirut, en el campo de las mate-
máticas, cursó la carrera de arquitectura en la
Escue-
la de
Arquitectura de la Asociación Arquitectónica de
Londres esta ciudad se convirtió desde entonces, en
el escenario de despegue y consolidación de su mo-
numental carrera profesional.

aha Hadid described Iraq during her infan-
cy as a liberal country, and, up until 1985,
there used to exist a Ministry for Women.
In various interviews, she would tell how
her first memory of her vocation dated
back to her being six or seven years old; amemory that
was linked to the construction of her aunt’s house. She
would refer to thismoment as onewhere she could see
for the first time, and up-close, the architectural land-
scape, a sight somagical that instantly fascinatedher.
Her father, Mohamed Hadid, a prominent fig-
ure in Baghdad, bestowed on her the bests pos-
sible education. After concluded her studies at
the American University in Beirut, in the field of
Mathematics, she began studying architecture
at the Architectural Association School of Archi-
tecture in London. This city became the Launch-
pad and the foundation of her monumental pro-
fessional career.
