El conteYto de la Guerra Fría fomentw Rue, lue-

go de Rue el territorio ordenado Qor Estados Uni-

dos, Francia Z Gran Bretava, se comQrendiera como

ReQ|blica Federal de Alemania RFA o Alemania

0ccidental, la URRS enseguida reaccionara gene-

rando la ReQ|blica Democrgtica Alemana RDA o

Alemania 0riental, hacia 1949. Esta divisiwn causw

un Ruebranto no swlo del territorio, sino del mis-

mo Queblo alemgn Z cuZo muro reQresentw el mgs

crudo control, Qor lo Rue su caída en 1989, se con-

vertiría en uno de los momentos mgs emotivos e

The Berlin Wall Memorial

morial constitutes a witness and emotive -although

harsh- Qrecedent of what war meant and Berlin’s ruQ-

ture. The Wall of Berlin divided the countrZ Qroduct

of a conteYt generated bZ the end of World War II,

when GermanZ was seQarated in four Ruarters due to

geoQolitical interests of the allied nations and whose

caQital -Berlin- was dominated bZ the Soviet Union.

The conteYt of the Cold War fomented the idea

that the territorZ comQosed bZ the allies -United

States, France and Great Britain-, reQresented the

Federal ReQublic of GermanZ FRG or Western Ger-

manZ the URRS swiftlZ took action bZ generating

the Democratic ReQublic of GermanZ DRG or East-

ern GermanZ, toward the Zear 1949. This division

caused a seQaration, not onlZ in its territorZ, but also

amongst the German QeoQle, whose wall reQresented

the most raw eYQression of control, reason whZ it’s

fall in 1989, turned into one of the most emotive and

iconic moments of dignitZ, freedom, union and iden-

titZ and German sQirit.
