convirtiendo en uno de los destinos europeos favo-
ritos, tanto por las actividades que ofrece como por
sus accidentes naturales como: glaciares, géiseres,
fuentes termales, volcanes en actividad, extensos
desiertos de lava, además de su historia, literatura
(a través de sus sagas islandesas) y tradición folcló-
rica muy ricas y vastas.
Con todo y la dificultad de vivir en un lugar como
éste, su calidad de vida esmuy alta, tomando en cuen-
ta que poseen un PIB per cápita de 30 mil 200 dólares,
un crecimiento anual de 1.7% y una inflación de 1.9%.
Y como es necesario importar prácticamente todo, es
así que comida, alojamiento y transporte ascienden
de sobremanera en el Atlántico Norte.
Por ello, Islandia está considerado como el se-
gundo país (después de Japón), con los precios más
elevados de Europa, en donde no se exige visado a
los europeos occidentales ni a ciudadanos de Estados
Unidos, Chile y México.
Aunque Islandia significa “Tierra del Hielo”, ésta
puede ser sorprendentemente calurosa en verano,

can be surprisingly hot in the summer, when the sun
