Reikiavik, la capital
Esta ciudad (bahía humeante) se asienta en un
fiordo enmarcado por el Monte Esja. Ahora conocida
como la ciudad sin humo, gracias a sus vientos y al
uso de calefacción geotérmica, Reikiavik posee un
relevante centro histórico, edificios de madera en-
calados e hileras de casas de hormigón, paisaje de
pintorescas casas de tejados de colores. Las mejores
muestras se levantan en los barrios de Grjotaporp y
Pingholt, aunque también se pueden ver algunas de
ellas en el Museo Arbaer de Casas Históricas.
Esta ciudad moderna cuenta con la famosa Hall-
grímskirkja (en honor al poeta más famoso de la isla:
lunking in the caves of Hallmundrhraunnear Húsa-

The Capital, Reykjavik
This city (smoking bay) is located in a framed
fjord by the Esja Mountain, actually known as the

the use of geothermic warming, Reykjavik has a
relevant historic center, wooden buildings and con-
crete house lines, landscapes with painteresque
colored roofs. The best samples rise in the neigh-
borhoods of Grjotaporp and Pingholt, although
some of themcan also be seen in the Arbar Museum
of Historic Houses.
This modern city has the famous Hallgrím-
skirkja (honoring the most famous poet in the Is-
land: Hallgrímur Pétursson), a spectacular church
inspired on a lava mountain. Its construction star-
