History of a British passion
In 2013 Land Rover turned 65. It was in April of
1948 when the Rover fabric developed its first vehi-
cle thought for work and harsh terrains. These were
times of steel shortage, after World War II, there was
abundance of aluminumsheets. The selection of this
material, made the product light and resistant to cor-
rosion, tracing its destiny. Until this day, the use of
aluminum allows it to reduce weight, increasing its
redeeming, and lowering the fuel consumption.Land
Rover had immediate success, which launched it as a
symbol of the British industry.
In 1970 a stationwagon variationwas baptized as
RangeRover. Currently, it still remains a Britishbrand,
and has installed itself as leader of 4x4 vehicles with
models as Defender, LR2, LR4, Discovery, Range Rov-
er Sport, Range Rover and Range Rover Evoque.It is
manofacturedinSolihull,England,andcomercilizesin
over 180worldmarkets. Only inMexicoduring2012, it
sold 53%more than last year, being reflected as a 36%
at a global level, compared to 2011.

En 2013 Land Rover cumple 65 años. Fue en abril
de 1948 cuando la fábrica Rover desarrolló su primer
vehículo pensado para el trabajo y para el terreno di-
fícil. Eran épocas de escasez de acero, tras la Segunda
Guerra Mundial, y había abundancia de planchas de alu-
minio. La elección de este último material, ligero y re-
sistente a la corrosión, marcaría su destino. Hasta hoy
el uso del aluminio le permite reducir peso, aumentar
su desempeño y bajar sus consumos de combustible.
Land Rover obtuvo un éxito inmediato, que lo volvió un
símbolo de la industria británica.
En 1970 se produjo una versión station wagon bau-
tizada Range Rover. Actualmente sigue siendo una mar-
ca plenamente británica y se ha instalado como líder en
vehículos 4x4 con los modelos Defender, LR2, LR4, Dis-
covery, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover y Range Rover
Evoque. Se fabrica en Solihull, Inglaterra, y comercializa
en cerca de 180 mercados mundiales. Sólo en México
vendió a lo largode 2012un53%más que el año anterior,
y a nivel global un 36% frente a 2011.
