Fiel guardiana de un patrimonio cultural e histórico
(en sus orígenes fue una ciudad del imperio deMughal),
que comprende edificaciones imponentes conmagnífi-
ca arquitectura, entre las que se encuentran las cuevas
de Aurangabad, la fábrica de Himroo, y los templos bu-
distas, jainistas e hindúes que habitan la región.
Monumentos del sur de la India
En el estado de Maharashtra es donde se encuen-
tran las 29 cuevas templos de Ajanta, del S II a.C., al
VI d.C. De origen budista, jainista e hinduista, mono-
líticas labradas en la roca, destacando la No. 10 y la
No. 26 donde se puede ver una estatua tallada de un
inmenso Buda reclinado.
A unos 100 kilómetros de éstas, se hallan otras
cuevas en Ellora, tratándose de un complejo de 34
templos también monolíticos labrados en la roca,
pertenecientes a las religiones budista, jainista e hin-
duísta, de los siglos VI y X d.C.
Tras dejar el estado de Maharashtra, el recorrido
fue hacia la provincia de Karnataka, visitando la ciu-
dad de Bijapur donde existen bellas mezquitas y se
halla el impresionante mausoleo de Gol Gumbaz, en el
cual se encuentra la llamada Galería de los Susurros,
que transporta un mensaje a través de 38 metros en
11 repeticiones consecutivas.
De Bijapur, el viaje continuó por taxi hacia una al-
dea donde se encuentra un complejo de más de 125
templos llamado Aihole, que según historiadores, la
primera fase de construcción de éstos se remonta al
siglo V, bajo la dinastía Chalukya.
A faithful guardian of a cultural and historical

architecture, among them are the Caves of Au-
rangabad, the Himroo factory and the Buddhist,
Janis and Hindu temples in the region.
Monuments of South India
In the state of Maharashtra, the 29 Ajanta Tem-

and 10th centuries A.C.
After leaving the state of Maharashtra, the jour-
ney continued to the province of Karnataka, visi-
ting the cities of Bijapur, wherebeautifulmesquites
are located as well as the impressive Gol Gumbaz
Mausoleum, where the so called Whisper Gallery
can be found, where a message can be transported
through 38 meters in 11 consecutive repetitions.
FromBijapur, the journey continued by taxi to-
wards a village with a complex of over 125 temples
called Aihole, that according to historians, the first
construction phase of these temples goes back to
the 5th century under the Chalukyan Dinasty.
