a mayoría de comentarios sobre Sunseeker se
refieren al lanzamiento del yate más grande
que ha construido, uno de 155 pies, y no del
Sunseeker 73. Sin duda el nuevo buque insignia será
una bella Joya de la Corona para la primera empresa
que se lanzó al mundo de los yates mayores de 100’
hace unos 10 años.
Pero además del éxito de esos cruceros personali-
zados, los viejos fanáticos de la marca saben que esta
empresa construye su nombre con modelos produci-
dos con alta calidad, a la medida de los dueños u ope-
radores. Así, cuando Sunseeker bota un yate nuevo,
“más pequeño”, también merece atención.
Eso explica por qué el Sunseeker 73 Manhattan
causó tal revuelo en los muelles en el Ft. Lauderdale
Boat Show el año pasado, cuando hizo su debut en los
EEUU, y otra vez en la exposición de Miami en febrero
de este año, donde también se exhibió la nave. El ma-
yor de los tres yates de motor que integran la serie
Manhattan, el 73, sustituye al 70 y se convierte en el
escalón para quien quiere subir del rango menor de
yates Sunseeker, como el 63 o el Portofino 48.
Como todos los Manhattan, el 73 está diseñado
para satisfacer la demanda de un crucero estético, de
lujo en todo nivel que pueda acomodar muchos pasa-
jeros sin sacrificar las líneas “sexy” y el desempeño
sólido de un yate deportivo. Es una combinación difícil
de lograr, pero Sunseeker ha convertido esa ciencia en
el estilo del 73.
Para crear entusiasmo en el negocio yatero, un
modelo tiene que atreverse a ser diferente. Las carac-
terísticas que distinguen a este yate de otros modelos
de su categoría son el volumen y un uso artesanal del
espacio. Sunseeker creó más pietaje cuadrado útil con
un novedoso diseño del casco del que se ufana, bajan-
do el ancho de la manga al máximo, pero sin sacrificar
el desempeño.

ost of the recent talk and tweets about
Sunseeker pertain to the launch of their
largest build, a sweeping 155-footer, not
the Sunseeker 73. No doubt the new flagship will
be a gorgeous jewel in the crown of a company that
first dipped its hulls into the world of yachts over
100’ about ten years ago.
Yet even with the successes of those custom
cruising machines, long-time fans of the brand
know this company built its reputation on premi-
um production models sized for owner/operators.
So when Sunseeker puts a new, “smaller” yacht onto
the water, it too merits attention.
That explains why the Sunseeker 73 Manhattan
caused such a stir on the docks at the Ft. Lauderdale
boat show last fall, when themodel made its U.S. de-
but, and again in February at theMiami show, where
the boat was also on display. The largest of three fly-
bridge motoryachts that comprise the Manhattan
series, the 73 replaces the 70 and serves as the next
stop for those trading up from the smaller Sunseek-
er yachts, like the 63 or even the Portofino 48.
Like all Manhattans, the 73 is designed to sat-
isfy a demand for a beautiful, multi-level luxury
cruiser that can accommodate many passengers
yet maintain the sexy lines and strong performance
of a sport yacht. That’s a tough combination to get
just right, but Sunseeker seems to have the formula
down to a stylish science in the 73.
To generate excitement in the boating business,
a newmodel has to dare to be different. The features
that distinguish this flybridge motoryacht from
other models in its class are volume and a crafty
use of space. Sunseeker created more usable square
footage with a brand-new hull design that boasts a
broad beam carried low to the chines, but not so low
that performance is sacrificed.
