During the austral winter, it also shelters the
humpback whale which lodges in the reef in order
to give birth to their calves; the same as a great
quantity of seabirds that can be viewed over the
sand bars.
It is worth mentioning that Géysir belongs to a
reef mountain range in the African region where,
in the west, the Zélé coral reef bank is located, and a
deep submarine fissure has been detected; while in
the northwest, the Banc du Borneo and, toward the
north, the Banc Bison, lie.
Además de brindar abrigo durante el invierno aus-
tral a la ballena jorobada, que se aloja en el arrecife
para dar a luz a sus ballenatos, también aloja a una
gran cantidad de aves marinas, mismas que pueden
ser avistadas sobre los bancos de arena.
Cabe señalar que Géysir pertenece a una cor-
dillera arrecifal de la región africana, en donde se
encuentran, al oeste, el banco de arrecifes de coral
Zélé, en donde se ha detectado una profunda fisu-
ra submarina, al noroeste, el Banc du Borneo, y el
Banc Bison, más al norte.
