DeWitt Tourbillon
Force Constante

P
ara la firma DeWitt, el Tourbillon Force Cons-
tante representa un sueño que fue trabajado
arduamente para hacerlo realidad. Esta fina
obra de relojería abordó de lleno una de las incógnitas
más antiguas dentro del arte de crear relojes: la trans-
misión regular de energía hacia el mecanismo.
A través del Tourbillon Force Constante, DeWitt
logró crear un dispositivo adicional que permite
transmitir impulsos de energía idéntica, sin impor-
tar la tensión del barrilete, cada diez segundos al
tourbillon. De esta manera, se agregan tres ruedas
adicionales al sistema tradicional de un reloj: una
rueda media pequeña y dos ruedas de transmisión,
entre la fuerza motriz (barrilete) y el regulador
(tourbillon).
La estética del reloj sólo puede igualarse con la
proeza técnica de su mecanismo, y se conforma de
una carátula, hecha con de oro de 18 quilates, que
presenta breves aberturas que dejan entrever la com-
plejidad de las 192 piezas que integran la maquinaria
de esta pieza de relojería.

or DeWitt, the Tourbillon Force Constante
represents a dream that eventually became
an achievement, and that took years of work
tomake it happen. This fine time piece was aimed to
address one of the oldest issues in the art of watch
making: the constant transmission of energy to the
mechanism.
With the Tourbillon Force Constante, DeWitt
managed to create an additional device which can
transmit identical energy pulses every ten seconds
to the tourbillon, regardless of the strain of the barrel.
Thus, three additional wheels are incorporated to the
traditional systemof thewatch: a small middlewheel
drive and two transmissionwheels, between thedriv-
ing force (barrel) and the regulator (tourbillon).
The aesthetics of the watch can only be equated
with the technical prowess of its mechanism, and
its case is made with 18 carat gold, that displays
brief openings that give us glimpses at the com-
plexity of the 192 pieces that make up the machin-
ery of this timepiece.
