i los deseos fueran realidad, ya estaría viajando
en carroza por los valles de Moravia, en el lado
oriente de lo que es hoy la República Checa. Pas-
earía por los bosques que coronan las colinas de Bohe-
mia al oeste y visitaría a mis amigos en la accidentada
Silesia, en el norte. La República Checa conjunta regiones
con sofisticados nombres, pueblos románticos, fasci-
nantes castillos e imponentes iglesias cuyos campanar-
ios vigilan los horizontes y han visto pasar mil batallas
de legendarios caballeros. Por esas tierras corren los ríos
Elba, Moldava y Morava, que han inspirado novelas llenas
de intrigas palaciegas y amores caballerescos. En mi car-
roza podría viajar en el tiempo y descubrir el profundo
encanto que anima a Praga, donde palpita el espíritu
checo; podría pasear por sus callejones y encontrar a sus
hermosas mujeres, y grabarme sus aromas mientras ad-
miro sus monumentos.

f wishes came true, I’d be travelling in a carriage
through the valleys of Moravia, on the eastern
side of what is now known as the Czech Republic,
in the woods that crown the western Bohemian hills,
and would visit friends at Silesia, up north. The Czech
Republic conjures regions with sophisticated names,
romantic villages, fascinating castles and impos-
ing churches whose bell-towers watch over the ho-
rizons that have been the stage of legendary battles
between knights. Through these lands run the Elba,
Moldava, and Morava rivers, which have inspires
novels filled with courtly love and intrigue. In my
carriage I could travel back in time and discover the
profound enchantment that animates Prague, where
the Czech spirit palpitates; I could roams the streets
and find its beautiful women, as well as admiring the
monuments.
