l Grandhotel Pupp es uno de los pocos hoteles
resort europeos con una historia que data del
siglo XVIII. La construcción del hotel comenzó
en 1701, y fue el resultado de la visión de Johann
Georg Pupp, quien era originalmente un confitero.
La familia Pupp continuó administrando el hotel y
en 1936 añadieron la última sección, poco tiempo antes
de que estallara la II Guerra Mundial.
Caminar por el hotel es como volver en el
tiempo. Un ejemplo clásico de esto son los salo-
nes de estuco con sus candelabros de cristal y
sus cuadros antiguos; la escalera original con
vidrio grabado al agua fuerte; el magnífico Salón
Festivo con su propio órgano y capacidad para
700 personas y el diseño en el enorme techo de

European resort hotels with a history that goes
back to the 18th century. The hotel’s construc-
tion started in 1701 and was the outcome of Johann
GeorgPupp’svision,whowasoriginallyaconfectioner.
The Pupp family added the last section of the
hotel in1936, shortly before the start ofWorldWar II.
As you walk through the hotel today, you feel
as if you have gone back in time. A classic example
is the stucco ballrooms with their crystal chande-
liers and age-old paintings, the original staircase
with its etched glass, the prestigious neo-baroque
ceremonial Festive Hall for 700 people with its
concert organ and the display on the huge glass
ceiling that was designed by Alfons Mucha, one of
the main figures of the
Art Nouveau
movement.
